Two Methods of Compare/Contrast Essay Writing

12 01 2009

When you write your compare/contrast essay, you should take into account two methods for composing this type of essay.
These two methods for compare/contrast essay writing are the Feature-by-Feature and the Block methods. You should use the next information about every format for you to cope with writing your compare/contrast essay.
You should start creating the introductory part with a sentence, which will attract your audience’s attention and interest. You can do this by means of giving a question or a reason that your readers find the topic important or interesting, or something common that these two subjects have. You should name these two subjects and state that they are very different, or very similar, or have numerous interesting (or important) differences and similarities.
The following paragraph or paragraphs describe the peculiarities of the first subject. You must be sure to use instances proving the differences and/or similarities existing. Here you should not mention another subject.
Make each new paragraph to avoid long paragraphs.
The following section should start with a transition demonstrating that you are comparing one subject to another.

For every comparison, it is recommended to use compare/contrast key words like “like,” “similar to,” “also,” “unlike,” and “on the other hand.” Make sure to take in some examples proving the differences and/or similarities existing. Make some new paragraphs to evade long paragraphs.
In the last paragraph, you should provide a brief and general summary of the very important differences and similarities. Also, you should finish with a prediction, a personal statement, or some snappy decisive factor.
